Overall a good book February 18, 2007 Kamal Busaidi (Muscat, Oman) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
As a first impression, the book covers a great deal of topics, though not in too greater detail. For me, as a person leaving outside the USA, a great part of the book is not relevent. The species covered are not found in our beaches. Overall, this is a great compainon and covers most if not all the aspects that a fly fisherman may encounter.
An Excellent Resource December 4, 2001 Wayne A. Stanfill Jr. (Scottsdale, AZ United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It's about time some one wrote a book on the west coast surf fly fishing. Covers areas from the Canadian to the Mexican boarders. Well written and laid out. All the information one needs to fly fish in the surf. Good resource on flies, equiptment and the quarry. It's also fun to read. I highly reccomned it.
Saltwater flyfishing on the left coast June 24, 2000 Scott John (Los Angeles) 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Life size saltwater flies in color on the inside covers. If you don't saltwater flyfish before reading this book you probably will after reading it, if just to have some of these flies in your tackle box. Hanley keeps it simple throughout-pictures abound. A good book to get you started: tackle suggestions; places to fish, and how to fish them; how to read tide tables. Now go out and fish the surf zone.
